Perhaps they do not want to wait to read new messages.  This is a mailing 
list, right?  That should mean people exchange text emails, not html, not 
binaries, not pictures, etc.  People who want to exchange these non-mail 
items should unsubscribe and go join an alt.binaries.* group "right now!"
