His replies are not blank, your mail client possibly has a bug in it which 
does not show the first line of some signed emails. (Evolution for example 
has had constant trouble with this - it stems from gpg integration issues)

If you use the "view source", or similar option, in your mail client you'll 
see that his previous email said:
