Subject: bbc calls them hackers not security researchers

the bbc has the balls to call them hackers and not security
researchers, its about time the security media journalists woke up and
followed suit with the bbc.

blackhat is a hacker conference, the folks releasing information aren't
security researchers, they are hackers through and through.

its people like securityfocus and cnet that try and give hackers
legitimacy to release their information and tools by calling them
security researchers.

the security media need to get their wording correct in terms of
describing these people, trust me they'll be a revolution one day.

for years i have read news sites and cringed at how much hackers are
given fancy titles like security and vulnerability researcher, kids
lets get down to it here ok, just incase you aren't on top of it,
these people are hackers.

people like hd moore are elite hackers that the government are scared
of, lets not dress them up with any other title, the security media
seem to dress them up and soften them up for public consumption in
news articles for the non security savvy joe average to read.

the bbc should be hailed and get a standing ovation as the leading
media news outlet in the world and should be a sign for others at
securityfocus and cnet to take note of for future coverage of security
current affairs.

why are securityfocus and cnet lying to their readers about what and
who these people are? they are hackers.

we need to put the word hacker back where it belongs instead of
letting the uneducated crowd continue to call crackers and script kids
"hackers".

you don't hear much of the word cracker and script kid in the media
now do you, they are called cyber criminals or hi-tech criminals now.
*lol*

i guess going to blackhat and releasing tools for the cyber criminals
to use isn't criminal in its self.

like i said, they'll be a revolution one day.

we don't even call them blackhats, even though they are at blackhat
security conference, and what are whitehats doing giving talks at a
blackhat hacker conference? oh its just a name, it doesn't mean
anything, *lol*.
