This bug is fixed by

ext4: never move the system.data xattr out of the inode body
       http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/930639/

And is a real inline data bug that can be triggered without needing a specially
crafted file system (although, of course, the inline_data feature has to be
enabled in the file system --- which is currently not the default).
