Subject: [SMP,APIC] Kernel hang on CMOS_READ

In my notebook, a HP dv9205us, the kernel hang when I read the cmos clock.

To reproduce it, I just call hwclock one or two times. The kernel
don't show any oops. Just hang.

Another way to reproduce it, is 'while [ 1 ]; do cat /proc/driver/rtc;
done'. With some seconds, the kernel hang.

Looking in kernel code, and with some comments, I found that the issue
is in CMOS_READ, when rtc call this macro.

I tried to use many parameters with time related, like 'nohpet', and still hang.

The only parameter to make rtc works is 'noapic'. Or when I compile my
kernel without smp support.

I use a x86_64 box, but I tried with i386 too and I have the same
issue, but with some differences:

 - On i386, the delay to hang is greater that x86_64. I need to call
hwclock more times to hang.
 - Sometimes, on i386, my kernel hang on boot in this line:

   ENABLING IO-APIC IRQs
   ..TIMER: vector=0x31 apic1=0 pin1=2 apic2=-1 pin2=-1

Some suggestions?
