In fact it is possible set the masks to generate any combination of
button 1, 2, and 3 events (but not to distinguish events generated by
PTS from real button events).

With this in mind press-to-select could remain a boolean and the 3
button marks could be exposed as sysfs variables. Would this be
preferable?
