No, this file is not modified. And yes, this is always the same file.

Yes, the FS is exported. But nothing happens over NFS at the time of
dd'ing. There is also ext4 fs which is exported, but it is also idle.

Yes, that is correct. NFS + a little ftp + a little of samba. In
read-only fashion.
