Subject: Windows 2000 Security Hardening Guide Available
Microsoft is pleased to announce the release of the Windows 2000(tm)
Security Hardening Guide for Windows 2000 Professional and the Windows
2000 Server Family.
The new guide is a continuing step in Microsoft's efforts to help
customers get secure and stay secure. It provides detailed security
guidance on Microsoft Windows 2000 that is authoritative, proven,
tested, and supported by Microsoft's support services. The guide is
designed to allow users to assess and mitigate a wide range of
significant security issues that may exist in their environment.
The Windows 2000 Security Hardening Guide provides easy to understand
guidance, tools, and templates to effectively secure Windows 2000 in a
variety of enterprise environments. It documents a number of security
settings can be configured based on specific requirements and scenarios,
as well as new settings which are available in Windows 2000 Service Pack
3 to enhance the security posture of the platform.
The Windows 2000 Security Hardening Guide consists of 7 chapters as well
as a number of templates to deploy the security measures discussed in
the guide. The chapters build on the end-to-end process required to
implement and secure Windows 2000 in an enterprise environment using six
different system roles.
