Package : emacs20
Vulnerability : format string
Problem-Type : remote
Debian-specific: no
CVE ID : CAN-2005-0100

Max Vozeler discovered several format string vulnerabilities in the
movemail utility of Emacs, the well-known editor. Via connecting to a
malicious POP server an attacker can execute arbitrary code under the
privileges of group mail.

For the stable distribution (woody) these problems have been fixed in
version 20.7-13.3.

The unstable distribution (sid) does not contain an Emacs20 package
anymore.

We recommend that you upgrade your emacs packages.

Upgrade Instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
        will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
        will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
