A potential security vulnerability in Java(TM) Runtime Environment
(JRE) on HP-UX may allow elevated privileges.

SUPPORTED SOFTWARE VERSIONS*:  ONLY impacted versions are listed.
Java 5.0.0 release (aka 1.5.0.0) as well as Java 1.4.2.08 release
and earlier.

BACKGROUND:

A potential vulnerability in Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE)
may allow an untrusted applet to elevate its privileges. For
example, an applet may grant itself permissions to read and write
local files or execute local applications that are accessible to
the user running the untrusted applet.

There are no reported attacks based on this vulnerability.

AFFECTED VERSIONS

NOTE: To determine if a system has an affected version,
    search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
    for an affected fileset. Then determine if a fixed
    revision or applicable patch is installed.

       value "java version 1.5.01" revealing the historical Java
       release line.
       The HP website mentions Java 5.0, which can be recognized

HP is providing the following Java updates to resolve this
potential vulnerability.  The updates are available from:
