The single site that Googles out for "Powered by Wordpress 2.0.5" for
me returns the following in the HTML:

[meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.0.1" /] [!-- leave this
for stats --]

(Angle brackets changed to flat ones by me.)

Perhaps a little more research was warranted?
