I. BACKGROUND
The Unisys Business Information Server is a business information
management package providing data access, analysis and reporting for
the enterprise. For more information, see the vendor's site found at
the following link.

II. DESCRIPTION
Remote exploitation of a stack based buffer overflow vulnerability in
Unisys's Business Information Server could allow an attacker to execute
arbitrary code with the privileges of the affected service.
If attackers send a packet to the Unisys Business Information Server
over a TCP port, the attacker can corrupt stack memory and gain
arbitrary code execution.
III. ANALYSIS
Exploitation of this vulnerability results in the execution of arbitrary
code with the privileges of the affected service, usually an
administrative account.
IV. DETECTION
iDefense has confirmed the existence of this vulnerability in Business
Information Server version 10. Previous versions may also be affected.
V. WORKAROUND
iDefense is currently unaware of any workarounds for this issue.
VI. VENDOR RESPONSE
Unisys has released a patch which addresses this issue. For more

The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) project has assigned the
name CVE-2009-1628 to this issue. This is a candidate for inclusion in
