Subject: Verisign "responds"

Feh indeed! Jesus! I can't believe I'm reading this ... fluff!

I was in London and Rhythms and AmerNet were pulling the plugs on their
DSL services in the US. Russell Lewis was the person that I spoke with
who helped me get my domains in order (after I'd had the trans-oceanic
run-around from various tech-level people and had repeatedly FAXed my
signed authentication letter across the Atlantic). He was nice and
professional and courteous and seemed to know what he was talking about.

I cannot believe that I just read his signature on that letter. Jeez!

Of course, this was two years ago, and I don't remember him being an
"Executive VP" - maybe in the last couple of years he's changed. Or maybe
his boss told him to to this for some nefarious reason (read "money").
Who's his boss? Anyone figure out how they're making money on this yet?
Oh, and the security implications - there's a nice long thread ...

I wish that I could be in that "scheduled meeting" with Vint Cerf to hear
the polite ass-reaming they're going to get :) Lewis must not subscribe -
otherwise he would know what a Charlie Foxtrot the wildcard mechanism is
and would never have written his name on that market-speak letter.
