Or, configure your browser to reject cookies.

Or, make your cookies file read-only. Your browser will happily accept the
cookie, but will be unable to save it. Voila! A session cookie.

This will not prevent sites from tracking your Internet activities any more
than a deadbolt on your front door will prevent a burglar from breaking a
window to enter your home, but it will prevent them from storing long-term
cookies on your computer. They will simply find another way. Does anyone
doubt that there is already at least one database built from web server
access logs?
