yes, P2P tools are for the most part primarily used for distributing
illegal "stuff". however...

this I disagree with, especially bittorent. bittorrent was designed with
the idea of sharing very large files from sources like slashdot. they
wanted to work around the problem os something like a linux ISO being
released (yay, the latest slackware iso is online, download it here - kind
of crap), without damaging the bandwidth of the originil site. the idea
was, instead of linking to the iso, link to the .torrent, and then let the
masses and masses of people downloading it, share the bandwidth, and
release pressure from the originating site. it torrent handles this VERY
well, and now on sites liek slashdot when iso's are released, they only
link to .torrent's. I still use bit torrent primarily for downlading large
files like this.

there are plenty of valid, legitimate reasons to have p2p software's on a
persons machine, the only thing I would careful of is these very same
softwares typically install all sorts of adware/malwre/spyware, etc. the
best thing to do is stay informed and use software that does not use these
practices.

p.s. oh dear god, my spelling and grammar is atrocious in this email,
please forgive me, it's been a long long long day.
