SCO Security Advisory
Subject: OpenServer 5.0.6 OpenServer 5.0.7 : enable command line buffer overflows
Advisory number: SCOSA-2005.13
Issue date: 2005 February 07
Cross reference: sr875254 fz527477 erg712243 CAN-2004-1131
______________________________________________________________________________
1. Problem Description
Davide Del Vecchio reported a buffer overflow in HP-UX that
affected the disable command. This caused us to take a
closer look at the enable and disable commands in SCO
OpenServer.
The system is designed to allow an administrator to give out
subsystem privileges. If a user has been given the "lp"
privilege, he could run enable/disable and possably
gain root privileges. Regular users can't run enable and
disable.
The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org)
has assigned the name CAN-2004-1131 to this issue.
2. Vulnerable Supported Versions
System Binaries
