They don't think acquisitions will fix their security problems.  They're
a hell of a lot smarter and more cynical than that.  They see the purchases
as cheap PR that will convince pointy-haired bosses that MS is doing something
productive.

Buying a company with clued programmers costs more - when the purpose of buying
the company is so you can issue a press release that you've just bought
The Latest Rad Snake Oil Solution, you want to pay as little as possible
per barrel of oil....
