September 2, 2005 http://www.debian.org/security/faq
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package : webcalendar
Vulnerability : remote code execution
Problem-Type : input validation
Debian-specific: no
CVE ID : CAN-2005-2717

A trivially-exploitable bug was discovered in webcalendar that
allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of
the HTTP daemon on a system running a vulnerable version.

The old stable distribution (woody) does not contain the webcalendar
package.

For the stable distribution (sarge) this problem has been fixed in
version 0.9.45-4sarge2.

For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem will be fixed
shortly.

We recommend that you upgrade your webcalendar package immediately.

Upgrade Instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
        will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
        will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
        will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
