Subject: remote modem string identification

Hi Guys,

does anyone know of a good way to identify a remote service from a
modem connection? I can't seem to find a termainal that makes sence..
it starts like this:

~ }#?!}!?} }8}"}&} }*} } }#}$?#}%}&???T}'}"}(}"?9~~ }#?!}...

it is idle when I connect, until I type somthing, then it starts,
prints for a few lines then disconnects me.

I tried hyperterm with auto terminal detection without any luck. It
could be ppp but Im not sure how to verify that.

Thanks in advance :-)
