If so, Germany's government is among the minority - most places the machinery
is anywhere from slightly to totally corrupt.  And there are many still alive
who can remember the Stasa, which wasn't all *that* long ago.

As to *why* you shouldn't buy into "it's for your own good", this author
named George Orwell wrote this book...
