Message-ID: <560454CA.3000408@halfdog.net> Date: Thu, 24 Sep 2015 19:53:46 +0000 From: halfdog <me@...fdog.net> To: fulldisclosure@...lists.org Subject: [FD] Apport kernel_crashdump symlink vulnerability exploitation -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello List, Here [1] is a short write-up of the Ubuntu Apport kernel_crashdump symlink vulnerabilities fixed today including some POCs. While symlink exploitation itself is not really exiting, the creation of a suitable payload is more interesting: logfile data has to be crafted, so that after splitting in chunks, compression and base64 encoding, the result string must resemble a path to an attacker-controllable executable. See [1] to read more. hd [1] http://www.halfdog.net/Security/2015/ApportKernelCrashdumpFileAccessVulnerabilities/ - -- http://www.halfdog.net/ PGP: 156A AE98 B91F 0114 FE88 2BD8 C459 9386 feed a bee -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iEYEARECAAYFAlYEVLUACgkQxFmThv7tq+5mDwCeP+FQNXWSE3oLahIdpCy8w+hy qakAn3YR0h3Y6ufbVuCD5Gh1CBjmDhJB =kKOP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Sent through the Full Disclosure mailing list https://nmap.org/mailman/listinfo/fulldisclosure Web Archives & RSS: http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/
