Otherwise, a buffer overflow access can occur in tipc_media_addr_printf(). Fix this by returning 1 on an invalid UDP media address. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2024-42284 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit d0f91938bede and fixed in 6.1.103 with commit 728734352743 Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit d0f91938bede and fixed in 6.6.44 with commit 76ddf84a52f0 Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit d0f91938bede and fixed in 6.10.3 with commit 2abe350db1aa Issue introduced in 4.1 with commit d0f91938bede and fixed in 6.11-rc1 with commit fa96c6baef1b Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2024-42284 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: net/tipc/udp_media.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/728734352743a78b4c5a7285b282127696a4a813 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/76ddf84a52f0d8ec3f5db6ccce08faf202a17d28 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2abe350db1aa599eeebc6892237d0bce0f1de62a https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fa96c6baef1b5385e2f0c0677b32b3839e716076
