Message-ID: <2025011131-CVE-2024-57879-7fa8@gregkh> Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2025 16:05:32 +0100 From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> To: linux-cve-announce@...r.kernel.org Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> Subject: CVE-2024-57879: Bluetooth: iso: Always release hdev at the end of iso_listen_bis Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: iso: Always release hdev at the end of iso_listen_bis Since hci_get_route holds the device before returning, the hdev should be released with hci_dev_put at the end of iso_listen_bis even if the function returns with an error. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2024-57879 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit 02171da6e86a73e1b343b36722f5d9d5c04b3539 and fixed in 6.12.6 with commit 4ca50db1c567d658d173c5ef3ee6c52b0b03603c Issue introduced in 6.9 with commit 02171da6e86a73e1b343b36722f5d9d5c04b3539 and fixed in 6.13-rc3 with commit 9c76fff747a73ba01d1d87ed53dd9c00cb40ba05 Issue introduced in 6.8.12 with commit a6c3af0a620082d191dabc69c4925b3e6c26dd48 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2024-57879 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: net/bluetooth/iso.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4ca50db1c567d658d173c5ef3ee6c52b0b03603c https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9c76fff747a73ba01d1d87ed53dd9c00cb40ba05
