Message-ID: <2025030609-CVE-2024-58062-00c9@gregkh> Date: Thu, 6 Mar 2025 16:54:15 +0100 From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> To: linux-cve-announce@...r.kernel.org Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> Subject: CVE-2024-58062: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: avoid NULL pointer dereference Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: avoid NULL pointer dereference When iterating over the links of a vif, we need to make sure that the pointer is valid (in other words - that the link exists) before dereferncing it. Use for_each_vif_active_link that also does the check. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2024-58062 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.12 with commit 2b7ee1a10a72ef8f3df621133ac04e80e8214037 and fixed in 6.12.13 with commit fbb563ad5032a07ac83c746ce5c8de5f25b5ffd0 Issue introduced in 6.12 with commit 2b7ee1a10a72ef8f3df621133ac04e80e8214037 and fixed in 6.13.2 with commit 7f6fb4b7611eb6371c493c42fefad84a1742bcbb Issue introduced in 6.12 with commit 2b7ee1a10a72ef8f3df621133ac04e80e8214037 and fixed in 6.14-rc1 with commit cf704a7624f99eb2ffca1a16c69183e85544a613 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2024-58062 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mvm/coex.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fbb563ad5032a07ac83c746ce5c8de5f25b5ffd0 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7f6fb4b7611eb6371c493c42fefad84a1742bcbb https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cf704a7624f99eb2ffca1a16c69183e85544a613
