Message-ID: <2025031211-CVE-2025-21847-a72f@gregkh> Date: Wed, 12 Mar 2025 10:42:13 +0100 From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> To: linux-cve-announce@...r.kernel.org Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> Subject: CVE-2025-21847: ASoC: SOF: stream-ipc: Check for cstream nullity in sof_ipc_msg_data() Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: stream-ipc: Check for cstream nullity in sof_ipc_msg_data() The nullity of sps->cstream should be checked similarly as it is done in sof_set_stream_data_offset() function. Assuming that it is not NULL if sps->stream is NULL is incorrect and can lead to NULL pointer dereference. The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2025-21847 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.3 with commit 090349a9feba3ceee3997d31d68ffe54e5b57acb and fixed in 6.6.80 with commit 2b3878baf90918a361a3dfd3513025100b1b40b6 Issue introduced in 6.3 with commit 090349a9feba3ceee3997d31d68ffe54e5b57acb and fixed in 6.12.17 with commit 62ab1ae5511c59b5f0bf550136ff321331adca9f Issue introduced in 6.3 with commit 090349a9feba3ceee3997d31d68ffe54e5b57acb and fixed in 6.13.5 with commit 6c18f5eb2043ebf4674c08a9690218dc818a11ab Issue introduced in 6.3 with commit 090349a9feba3ceee3997d31d68ffe54e5b57acb and fixed in 6.14-rc4 with commit d8d99c3b5c485f339864aeaa29f76269cc0ea975 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2025-21847 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: sound/soc/sof/stream-ipc.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2b3878baf90918a361a3dfd3513025100b1b40b6 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/62ab1ae5511c59b5f0bf550136ff321331adca9f https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6c18f5eb2043ebf4674c08a9690218dc818a11ab https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d8d99c3b5c485f339864aeaa29f76269cc0ea975
