Message-ID: <2025050117-CVE-2025-37783-23bf@gregkh> Date: Thu, 1 May 2025 15:07:31 +0200 From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> To: linux-cve-announce@...r.kernel.org Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...nel.org> Subject: CVE-2025-37783: drm/msm/dpu: Fix error pointers in dpu_plane_virtual_atomic_check From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...nel.org> Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/dpu: Fix error pointers in dpu_plane_virtual_atomic_check The function dpu_plane_virtual_atomic_check was dereferencing pointers returned by drm_atomic_get_plane_state without checking for errors. This could lead to undefined behavior if the function returns an error pointer. This commit adds checks using IS_ERR to ensure that plane_state is valid before dereferencing them. Similar to commit da29abe71e16 ("drm/amd/display: Fix error pointers in amdgpu_dm_crtc_mem_type_changed"). Patchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/643132/ The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2025-37783 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Issue introduced in 6.14 with commit 774bcfb731765d092992136b54c34958d7c64bea and fixed in 6.14.4 with commit a9670ed1cce3216778c89936d3ae91cf0d436035 Issue introduced in 6.14 with commit 774bcfb731765d092992136b54c34958d7c64bea and fixed in 6.15-rc3 with commit 5cb1b130e1cd04239cc9c26a98279f4660dce583 Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2025-37783 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/gpu/drm/msm/disp/dpu1/dpu_plane.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a9670ed1cce3216778c89936d3ae91cf0d436035 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5cb1b130e1cd04239cc9c26a98279f4660dce583
