Message-ID: <2025050944-CVE-2025-37881-505f@gregkh> Date: Fri, 9 May 2025 08:45:48 +0200 From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...uxfoundation.org> To: linux-cve-announce@...r.kernel.org Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...nel.org> Subject: CVE-2025-37881: usb: gadget: aspeed: Add NULL pointer check in ast_vhub_init_dev() From: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@...nel.org> Description =========== In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: aspeed: Add NULL pointer check in ast_vhub_init_dev() The variable d->name, returned by devm_kasprintf(), could be NULL. A pointer check is added to prevent potential NULL pointer dereference. This is similar to the fix in commit 3027e7b15b02 ("ice: Fix some null pointer dereference issues in ice_ptp.c"). This issue is found by our static analysis tool The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2025-37881 to this issue. Affected and fixed versions =========================== Fixed in 5.4.293 with commit a777ccfb9ba8d43f745e41b69ba39d4a506a081e Fixed in 5.10.237 with commit c8d4faf452a627f9b09c3a5c366133a19e5b7a28 Fixed in 5.15.181 with commit d26a6093d52904cacdbb75424c323c19b443a890 Fixed in 6.1.136 with commit 36d68151712e525450f0fbb3045e7110f0d9b610 Fixed in 6.6.89 with commit cfa7984f69359761b07a7831c1258c0fde1e0389 Fixed in 6.12.26 with commit 052fb65335befeae8500e88d69ea022266baaf6d Fixed in 6.14.5 with commit 61006ca381b4d65d2b8ca695ea8da1ce18d6dee3 Fixed in 6.15-rc1 with commit 8c75f3e6a433d92084ad4e78b029ae680865420f Please see https://www.kernel.org for a full list of currently supported kernel versions by the kernel community. Unaffected versions might change over time as fixes are backported to older supported kernel versions. The official CVE entry at https://cve.org/CVERecord/?id=CVE-2025-37881 will be updated if fixes are backported, please check that for the most up to date information about this issue. Affected files ============== The file(s) affected by this issue are: drivers/usb/gadget/udc/aspeed-vhub/dev.c Mitigation ========== The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes. Individual changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel release. Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or supported by the Linux kernel community at all. If however, updating to the latest release is impossible, the individual changes to resolve this issue can be found at these commits: https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a777ccfb9ba8d43f745e41b69ba39d4a506a081e https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c8d4faf452a627f9b09c3a5c366133a19e5b7a28 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d26a6093d52904cacdbb75424c323c19b443a890 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/36d68151712e525450f0fbb3045e7110f0d9b610 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cfa7984f69359761b07a7831c1258c0fde1e0389 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/052fb65335befeae8500e88d69ea022266baaf6d https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/61006ca381b4d65d2b8ca695ea8da1ce18d6dee3 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8c75f3e6a433d92084ad4e78b029ae680865420f
