Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

platform/x86: alienware-wmi-wmax: Fix NULL pointer dereference in sleep handlers

Devices without the AWCC interface don't initialize `awcc`. Add a check
before dereferencing it in sleep handlers.

The Linux kernel CVE team has assigned CVE-2025-40234 to this issue.

	Issue introduced in 6.16 with commit 07ac275981b1f11a58dd7bb7790eed66252b072c and fixed in 6.17.6 with commit 24c3812c9e817d19e4842d7495561594de1ddcb4
	Issue introduced in 6.16 with commit 07ac275981b1f11a58dd7bb7790eed66252b072c and fixed in 6.18 with commit a49c4d48c3b60926e6a8cec217bf95aa65388ecc

Mitigation
==========

The Linux kernel CVE team recommends that you update to the latest
stable kernel version for this, and many other bugfixes.  Individual
changes are never tested alone, but rather are part of a larger kernel
release.  Cherry-picking individual commits is not recommended or
supported by the Linux kernel community at all.  If however, updating to
