Subject: [Bug 14354] Bad corruption with 2.6.32-rc1 and upwards

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14354

--- Comment #141 from Eric Sandeen <sandeen@...hat.com>  2009-10-29 16:47:01 ---
Maxim, I'm reproducing it like this:

#!/bin/bash

echo "clearing & reinstalling modules"

mkdir -p /tmp/modules
rm -rf /tmp/modules/*

mount /dev/sdb4 /mnt/test2/
cd /mnt/test2/linux-2.6
while true; do
    make -j2 MODLIB=/tmp/modules modules_install
done

where /mnt/test2/linux-2.6 is just a recent kernel tree.

I then cut power to the box in the middle of the install, reboot, and see what
shape I'm in.

I had been cutting power after a random amount of time but I think it's
probably best to catch it while the modules are being actively copied over,
rather than say while depmod is running, but I'm not 100% certain about that.

-Eric
