Hi Heinz,

that's bad news :(
hopefully you had a backup available

to complete my last report with the corruption/empty file for
/var/db/pkg/sys-devel/patch-2.6.1/COUNTER

(kernel running was from commit bd2d0210cf22f2bd0cef72eb97cf94fc7d31d8cc)

I got more and more corruption and the following BUG message in dmesg:

then I continued some browsing on the web (reading stuff & research)
and letting music (mp3) run

rekonq was fired up, for some minutes it worked, and then it hang
and/or slowed down during loading of websites - it eventually finished
it couldn't really be closed - only via killlall
and it remained in D (daemon ?) state in htop

ps aux | grep rekonq showed:
[rekonq] <defunct>

addr2line didn't reveal much useful - only: inode.c:0

shortly before I wanted to shutdown my box I to tried to sync stuff to
post some info (if you guys need it) but syncing wouldn't work anymore

time sync && sdparm -C sync /dev/sdd

the Magic SYSRQ key still (half-way) worked: closing apps, etc. was
possible but syncing also didn't work anymore

so I did a Alt + Print + REI UO

short summary what happened:

the kernel running is from checkout/commit:
bd2d0210cf22f2bd0cef72eb97cf94fc7d31d8cc
1) emerge -1 sys-devel/gcc
COUNTER file in /var/db/pkg/sys-devel/patch-2.6.1/ got corrupted/empty
2) config files of eselect mesa got corrupted
3) rekonq would hang/slow down for several moments while loading
websites - it would continue loading them eventually but further usage
wasn't possible anymore

4) somewhere between 1 and 3 the BUG message appeared in dmesg
5) syncing wouldn't work anymore

*) often un- and re-mounting is my /boot-partition
*) my portage-tree is on the XFS-partition with delayed logging
*) the other ext4-partition (dm-3) is my /home-partition mounted ro (read-only)

Seems like it's really some issues with ext4 ...

Below you'll find the output of dmesg for the full session

Thanks & Regards

Matt
