Subject: online resize of ext4 hung (3.2.51 / 1.42.5)
Hi all,
after a short discussion on IRC, Eric Sandeen recommended me to send this to
the list:
I've got a stuck online resize of an ext4 FS.
Kernel is Debian 3.2.0-4-amd64 (3.2.51), e2fsprogs 1.42.5.
History is as follows: The FS was 5.46T in size. I had to shrink it to 3T in
order to remove a disk from the underlying LVM VG. At that point, about 2.8T
were in use. After removing the disk, i extended the LV again to take up the
then available space (3.64T). I then mounted the FS and started the online
resize. In parallel, more data got written to the FS.
It's now stuck at this point (df -m):
Filesystem 1M-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/backupserver-backups 3481020 3043818 437203 88% /mnt/lvmbackups
Kernel log is attached, CPU is idle.
I can leave the machine sitting around for another day or maybe two, so if
it's necessary to extract more information from somewhere, please tell me.
Please CC me on replies as I'm not subscribed to the list.
Thanks in advance,
Jakob Haufe
