I was continuing to look into this but had to keep it aside for a bit mainly
since I got caught up with some other work plus I don't seem to have the right
hardware to trigger this either.

I see that you are facing a similar issue and have some more information on
your post. Thanks for that, let me take some more time to go though it and
think about the issue. 

Btw, would it possible for you to do a git bisect of the issue to see which is
the bad commit? Since I'm not able to replicate it on my setup that could be
really helpful.
