Subject: Question: SATA and Flash drives? (also: dm-crypto problem)

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

I'm now getting a long delay on bootup on SATA-based laptops. (30
seconds +) followed by some unusual errors.

attached: .config file used here.

I'm copying the log by hand as none of these units have serial ports.
hardware: HP/Compaq nx6310. Intel Pentium M/Yonah processor, Intel 945
control hardware (graphics,PCI,...)
"hard drive" - 16G flash drive on SATA. Filesystem is encrypted -
except for "/boot". (dm-crypt/aes)
(skipping PM: debug as I'm not sure it helps)
(also skipping USB)
There's a 30 second delay before the first record (SATA link down) - and
some log entries that have skipped before this... (trying again)

(lots more)
device-mapper: table: 254:3: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed

(LOTS more)

then it promptly fails to find the partition. (the "Error allocating
crypto tfm" seems to be part of the problem)

I'll gladly do anything necessary to make this work. And, while it's been a few years since I've done device driver hacking, I'm happy to return to it. (I'm just avoiding as it
takes a LOT of time and this isn't the only part of my job)

Next I'm trying as recent a git tree as I can find... in the hope someone has already solved it.
