Subject: web server performance problem on 2.6.21.1

Renamed the thread to fit the content better, cc'ing lkml and quoting
the whole message for lkml readers.

The HSM violation during boot is probably from smartd/smartctl. Please
update or disable them. I can't tell much from the info you provided
why the slowdown occurs or even whether it actually is a bug. What do
you mean by 'frozen'? Please report the result of 'vmstat 10' while
such problem occurs. Does the kernel complain anything during or after
such events?
