Subject: [problem 2.6.21 libata] using ATA_PIIX throws exceptions, messes
	up during dvd burn

First lkml post, please help me if I miss anything :)

During butning using libata in 2.6.21 for PIIX for my two LITE-ON
burners, I continuously get errors thrown at me through dmesg and the
hardware buffer of the burner jerks around erratically. Results in a
less quality burn, and sometimes a coaster.

My kernel is a custom compiled 2.6.21 kernel, patched with ck2. I have
verified this effects mainline 2.6.21 also. Kernel config attached, as
well as my lspci -vvv output.

My gcc:
-> ~ $ gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: i486-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../src/configure -v --enable-languages=c,c
++,fortran,objc,obj-c++,treelang --prefix=/usr --enable-shared
--with-system-zlib --libexecdir=/usr/lib --without-included-gettext
--enable-threads=posix --enable-nls
--with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.1.3 --program-suffix=-4.1
--enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-libstdcxx-debug
--enable-mpfr --with-tune=i686 --enable-checking=release i486-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.1.3 20070514 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-7)

The error is as follows (and is repeated):
ata5.01: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
ata5.01: cmd a0/01:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/b0 tag 0 cdb 0x28 data
2048 in
         res 40/00:03:00:00:20/00:00:00:00:00/a0 Emask 0x4 (timeout)
ata5: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0xd0)
ata5: soft resetting port
ata5.00: configured for UDMA/66
ata5.01: configured for UDMA/33
ata5: EH complete

On another note -- using the old ATA subsystem my DVD burns fine, but
then the kernel throws "unknown" DMA errors so fast I have to SysRq
reboot .. Can't do anything else. Very odd.

I have a P5LD2 Asus motherboard, on a P-D 830 3GHz Dualcore, 1536MB RAM.

Everything works fine on the Debian kernel 2.6.18-4-686 though it is a
bit outdated as you can see :)

Thank you for your time and I hope I can resolve this issue!
