Hi,

2.6.23-rc1 (as well as 2.6.22.x) produces some section mismatch
warnings during compile on slackware 11 (gcc-3.4.6, glibc-2.3.6):

.init.data:trampoline_end (between 'setup_trampoline' and
'cpu_coregroup_map')

.init.data:trampoline_data (between 'setup_trampoline' and
'cpu_coregroup_map')
WARNING: vmlinux.o(.text+0x139d3): Section mismatch: reference to
.init.data:trampoline_data (between 'setup_trampoline' and
'cpu_coregroup_map')
WARNING: vmlinux.o(.data+0x275c): Section mismatch: reference to
.init.text:thermal_throttle_cpu_callback (between
'thermal_throttle_cpu_notifier' and 'mce_work')

config is just "make menuconfig" and exit, after unpacking sources.
with and without "optimize for size", config attached anyway
