It's an Intel Mac Mini - Intel 945GM chipset.
I believe OSX requires HPET and so there shouldn't be a need to force
enable it on this chipset?

Also I don't have problems under Centos 5.1 kernel (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5)
and hpet is enabled there.
