Subject: Kernel 2.6.24.4 Realtek/HD audio bug(?)

Hi all,

Not sure if this has been posted on the list or not but from around
2.6.22/2.6.23 time period, when mplayer plays mpeg2/avi files (format does
not appear to matter) there are some cases where the sound driver does not
appear to act correctly.

E.g., the sound is very crackly, does not sound correct, looking at the
output from mplayer suggests everything is fine, I was just wondering if
anyone else experienced this?

Something else also changed during the 2.6.22/2.6.23 time period as well,
when I increase the volume I notice the hiss on my speakers MUCH more than
I ever did prior to 2.6.22/2.6.23. Some big changes in the alsa tree, or?

Also, if you cancel/kill mplayer and then replay the file, its fine, it
only happens randomly, it not easily reproducible at all, so I doubt it
will be easy to track down unless someone else has an idea about this?

Distro: Debian Testing
Mobo: AW9D-MAX
Using: Alsa/Realtek/HD Audio & mplayer+alsa
Kernel: 2.6.24.4
Arch: x86

.config attached.

Thanks,

Justin.
