Subject: [2.6.26-rc1] Output to console stops when booted without 'vga=791'

I have fbcon and vesafb compiled into my kernels and normally boot with
'vga=791'. While testing another regression, I removed that parameter, but
that resulted in all output to VT1 stopping during the boot, just before the
initrd gets loaded.

At first I thought this was #9310, but the "freeze" now *also* happens if
the config option FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_DETECT_PRIMARY is *not* set, so this
is a new regression, possibly on top of #9310.

The console works fine if I completely disable the framebuffer by booting
with 'video=vfb:off'.

(I've also updated #9310 with this info.)

Cheers,
FJP
