Because I reverted the change we found bugs in.
Ilpo sent you a patch which reverted an entire series of changes
purely so that we could begin to narrow things down.

This is my though still currently because I can't see any reason why
the diff you keep posting would cause a device to transmit timeout.
It's likely a timing thing or something weird like that.
