Sorry, sometimes I forget to say sparse warning.  This is with
__CHECK_ENDIAN__ as well.

Would you prefer:
	if (pSMBr->hdr.Flags2 & SMBFLG2_UNICODE)
		is_unicode = true;
	else
		is_unicode = false;

Instead?
