The problem continues with 2.6.31-0.94.rc4.fc12.x86_64.  Please see the 
attached log text file which has the kernel messages.

Also note that the incident only occurred during "md: data-check of RAID 
array md2".  The soft lockups ended as soon as "md: md2: data-check done."

I don't monitor the list (too much traffic), so I kindly request that 
you include me directly in all replies with the list.
