Subject: PROBLEM: linux server halts while restarting VLC

Hello,

We have a video camera which is connected to a capture card in a linux
server (CentOS 5.4). VLC takes video data from the capture card,
streams it and writes to a file. A cron job checking the file's size
and rotates it when it comes to a configured limit. After file was
rotated, VLC process is restarted.
Rotating and restarting are done by means of logrotate script:
# cat /etc/logrotate.d/vlc
/opt3/cam-fx4/*.asf {
    size 300M
    rotate 16
    notifempty
    missingok
    prerotate
        killall vlc && sleep 1
    endscript
    postrotate
        sudo -u vlc /usr/local/bin/vlc_cam-fx4.shx
    endscript
}

# cat /usr/local/bin/vlc_cam-fx4.shx
nice -n 19 vlc --intf dummy v4l2:// :v4l2-dev="/dev/video0" :v4l2-standard=255 :v4l2-input=1 :v4l2-width=720 :v4l2-height=480 \
    --no-sout-audio \
    --marq-marquee="%d-%m-%Y %H:%M:%S" --marq-position=10 --marq-opacity=200 --marq-size=20 \
    --sout '#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=2048,scale=1,sfilter=marq}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ts,dst=.....},dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,dst=/opt3/cam-fx4/cam-fx4.asf}}' > /dev/null 2>&1 &

Once or twice a day, the server halts with the following in the system
log:

          gnomevfs vcd daap upnp pvr live portaudio avahi hal glide
          ncurses qt4 opencv

Options that would need not yet existing add-on packages :
--with loader ggi tarkin tremor

# cat /etc/grub.conf
default=2
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title CentOS (vmlinuz-2.6.33.2)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.33.2 ro root=LABEL=/ rootflags=data=journal
        initrd /initrd-2.6.33.2.img

Also I tried changing the kernel line to:
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.33.2 ro root=LABEL=/ rootflags=data=journal pci=noacpi noapic acpi=ht
It didn't help.

Please, let me know how to fix or workaround that.
