Subject: unrecoverable disk errors when listening to USB GPS receiver

Hello,

this is a big problem I have encountered when using newer hardware here,
so I have decided to try a newer kernel, namely 2.6.37-20-desktop
(opensuse 11.4 rc1), but the problem remains.

I have a perfectly running linux kernel and applications, but when I
start listening to a USB GPS receiver, access to my sata disk stops working :(
until a reboot.

Is that a known (an fixed) problem ?
