It doesn't spin, it sleeps:

+               spin_lock_irqsave(host->host_lock, flags);
+               if (list_empty(&ram_device->commands)) {
+                       set_current_state(TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE);
+                       spin_unlock_irqrestore(host->host_lock, flags);
+                       schedule();
+                       continue;
+               }
