That patch causes compile errors with "allmodconfig":

  ERROR: "do_take_over_console" [drivers/video/console/fbcon.ko] undefined!
  make[1]: *** [__modpost] Error 1
  make: *** [modules] Error 2
  make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
