Subject: Bad audio quality over HDMI when using snd-hda-intel driver

Sending this to linux-kernel instead. Seems like it may be some sort
of IRQ problem. Please CC me on any RE or comments.

This email is in regards to the snd-hda-intel codec driver that is a
part of the linux kernel and the issues that I have encountered.

My set up currently is a Dell Latitude E6500 with onboard Intel sound
and nvidia GPU. The laptop has a DisplayPort which I'm using to
connect to a HDMI cable using a DP to HDMI adapter. From the DP to
HDMI adapter, the HDMI cable is plugged from the adapter directly into
my television, which (the audio) is then transferred to a sound
receiver for audio output. Attached is the rest of the information for
this bug report as asked for in the linux kernel bug reporting tips.

Please let me know if I can be any more assistance

[X.] Other notes, patches, fixes, workarounds: Tried adding the flags
as mentioned in the snd_hda_intel FAQ for crackly sound but was
unsuccessful in repairing the issue. Tested hardware by using
proprietary nVIDIA driver which had produced good quality sound, when
trying to use novueau I began to experience crackly quality sound.
