I don't think so. Some people feel that it is not clear a bit.
Of course, I know what you mean.
Also, your comment is reasonable.
However, personally, I prefer the latter.
Because, I think that the meaning of bits is more important than
actual bits. In the latter case, we can notice the meaning of bits
more easily.
