(It should be noted that Russell King taught me the approach I took
there. Before Russell did that I found dependency errors involving
recursive selects, ie most of them, rather baffling.
Any flaws in that message are entirely mine, of course.)

"insist" is pushing things a bit too far. "claims" or "stated"?
