Looking, well, I guess kernel_recvmsg() does read from a socket, but I
assume calling with MSG_DONTWAIT means that it doesn't block.

Thanks for the detailed investigation.

I think it would be worth adding a comment if that might help someone
having to reinvestigate this again some day.
